Project summary
Background
An internal communications newsletter for Qantas Airport Services required a unique design but was limited by the strict typeface and colour rules within the main Qantas brand guidelines.
Solution
The design was anchored around a single metaphor—the horizon—the point at which the sky meets the earth and an allusion to a Qantas aircraft meeting passengers on the ground.
The title Horizons, masthead design and use of Qantas’ Sky Blue and Red Earth brand colours visually reinforced the sky-meets-the-earth motif.
Inside, the layout grid used other horizontal and vertical editorial elements.
Result
Conceptually, the design was intrinsically linked to Airport Services, creating a unique look for the distinct business unit, while paying homage to the parent Qantas brand.
